I murmured. That gave me an idea. I fumbled through my bag and found the keychain flashlight, which wasn't going to be helpful, but the other side was a laser pointer. I pointed it towards a threshold in a mirror. As the light left the flashlight, the red beam became visible. It wasn't just a spot like in our world, instead, it was a path of light. "Whoa," I whispered. Then louder, I asked, "Can you see that?" Remi's image looked left and right following the red beam in front of him. "Yes! Let me follow it."

Employing the soft robe supplied for her use, she hurriedly put it on. A tall woman in a figure-hugging backless purple gown was standing by the windows. As she turned, her waist-length torrent of curling copper hair flew around her narrow white shoulders and great green eyes with the luminosity of jewels fixed on Lara. Without any doubt, she was one of the most beautiful women Lara had ever seen. “Oh… there you are… I’m Meghan,’ she said in a superior tone, her gaze pinned to Lara with disturbing intensity. “Welcome to Ambergris Cay.”

I adjust the lens and focus on the pair. One is a woman with long dark hair walking a few steps ahead of a boy who is carrying two boxes so big, he can barely see over top of them. The woman laughs when the boy stops, puts the boxes down, and blows his hair out of his eyes. His hair is as black as hers and cut close to his head except for the top, which is long enough that it falls into his eyes. I've never seen eyes that color before. They're the most beautiful turquoise, bright, like the sparkling water of the ocean at my favorite beach in Cancun. With his tanned face and dark hair, they're striking.

Two more creatures fell. But more were coming. A cloud of pale nightmares descending from the roof. [The Fire] "We can't fight them all!" Braun screamed, swinging his heavy medical bag at a swooping monster. "Light!" Catherine shouted suddenly. "They hate the light!" Sebastian remembered. They were blind cave dwellers. "Jack! The flares! Light them all!" Jack grabbed a bundle of road flares from his pack. He lit them. FFFFT. Blinding red light filled the cavern. The creatures screamed, recoiling from the intensity. Their translucent skin seemed to burn under the glare.

The lights that lit up the poolside illuminated her red hair, making it shimmer. “Ahh!” She gasped, feeling me behind her in the water, my torso bare. At that moment, my rationality had slipped away. In one swift motion, I turned her around, lifting her legs in the water to wrap around my waist. “You seemed to enjoy his company so much,” I whispered as I leaned into her, my hands trailing the curve of her body. She gasped when I cupped her breasts, squeezing so hard that they popped out of her bra. The lights illuminated her skin, making it look ethereal, and her nipples stood out. Without waiting for a reply, I leaned in, taking her nipple into my mouth.

In one blinding flash of light, the beast's head was cut in half from Lars' attack. The monster went limp almost immediately with its head split open and bursting into light particles. Lars' smile of victory and relief was brief as he heard a high pitched yelp from the girl who was pinned under the monster's falling body. Before Lars could reach her to help, he was stopped from the sight of the monster's body dissipating in larger amount of silver light particles. Lars found the lights oddly mesmerizing, despite all the horror he went through. It was like watching a thousand fireflies take flight in summer night.

But this time is not as simple as white, it has the hue of the ocean inside and as they raise the stones against the moon light, a golden light appears. "There," they both smiled as blood rushes and all they can do is scream as this magic unfolds in front of their eyes.

Alaric shouted. He moved forward. His body was glowing with a deep amber light. He looked like a sun in the middle of a dark night. He punched the monster, and his fist went straight through the smoke. The monster let out a high-pitched scream, but it didn't die. It just shifted its shape and wrapped its long, smoky arms around Alaric’s waist. "Alaric!" I cried. I saw the light in his skin start to dim. The monster was drinking his energy. Alaric’s face went pale, and he fell to his knees. The shadow was covering him like a blanket of ink.

Its limbs are contorted and its tail limp but its chest still glows. "We tried our blades, but they only hurt and anger it," someone says. I retrieve my sword from its sheath and step closer to the monster. Its eyes follow me, but it remains completely still, even when I am close enough to touch it. I raise my sword and shove it hard into its head. It doesn't scream, only hisses as its eyes slowly close. I yank my blade out and watch as the monster's body starts to collapse into dust. "No darkness can escape the Light Bringer," I mutter, glancing down at my sword. I whisper a few words in Latin, making the glow fade and the blade go still.

The only things that match exactly are the two machetes in leather scabbards hanging from their waists. Lights is the oldest male Miracle, born the day after Radar. His real name is Javier. He’s a slender guy of Mexican descent, just a couple inches taller than me, with olive skin and longish black hair he keeps cut short in the front to keep it out of his yellow-gold eyes. His eyes were dark brown until his Power appeared several years ago, when they turned golden. His Power, as his nickname suggests, is light. He can create balls of light with either hand, or shoot a beam of light from his eyes. As he’s gotten older, he’s learned to control the size and the brightness of the balls and beam
