Violette looked shaken, but she nodded slowly, eyes fixed on the crash as she whispered, "Selena… I think that was Kane. I think he drove into her on purpose."
Sure enough, thick smoke was rising from the wrecked cars—and Kane was crawling out of one of them.
On the way to the hospital, Kane kept asking to see me.
"Selena… I am so sorry. I was wrong. I failed you. I failed our child. It was all my fault. I was blind. If I wake up tomorrow, can we try again? Please?"
I looked at him, smiled coldly, and gently pulled my hand away.
