**The Banished Luna** **Chapter 1 — Shadows Before the Moon** The moonlight poured through the narrow window, silvering the dust that hung in the air. I tugged my worn cloak tighter around my shoulders as I stacked the last bundle of herbs on the healer’s table. My fingertips were raw from picking nettles all afternoon, but the sting was nothing compared to the constant ache of being invisible. Invisible — except when I was a problem. “Aria, you’re slow again.” The healer’s sharp voice snapped me from my thoughts. She didn’t look up from grinding roots in her mortar. “If you can’t keep up, I’ll tell Beta Rowan to find someone else.”

For once, it was nice having someone who actually cared about me. Bane landed a few moments later outside of a small inn that sat in a field just outside of the city of Lucia. The inn looked tiny with its worn, mossy stone exterior, but the soft yellow light spilling through the windows cast a warm glow across the long grass of the swaying field as the sun slowly dipped below the horizon. I couldn't help but to smile as we climbed down and Xavier took my hand, pulling me inside just as Bane and Nova took their rightful places on our shoulders.

Cain patted her on the back as he broke the hug in the process, “enjoy that, it might be the only one you would get in ten years.” He walked around as he observed the entire cabin. “How’s our little friend, he seems quiet today.” “Huh? Little friend? What friend?” Eliza asked,her fingers tying little knots at the hem of her shirt. “What do you mean what friend? I am talking about the houndra.” “Oh, the houndra we still have that?” Cain paused. Something was not right with Eliza. He knew his daughter and she was a lot of things, one thing that she was not was slow and right now, Eliza was acting extremely slow.”

Claire must be bluffing! I, however, merely lowered my head and calmly wrote down every name. Without sparing him so much as a glance, I pulled out my phone and made a call. "Yes. Hello, everyone! This is XSkylar19. It has been a very interesting ride for me while writing Bane of the Dragons because (fun fact) this was my very first dragon genre. I know some of you probably disliked how everything turned out or how fastpaced everything happened but know that this was intentional as I couldn't drag the story on. Anyway, while this book becomes the first book for dragon genre, it certainly wasn't my first book in the fantasy genre.

At dusk, his wide gray eyes go half-mast, and he yawns and stretches and puts his arms around people who he thinks will lead him back to the right home.
