I went near the window and from here, I can see the grainfield and other parts of district G. Torches are everywhere. They are like eyes on fire. There is really no electricity here with us. We abandoned ourselves and plunged into the fact that paraffin lamp is our only source of light when the night comes. The only device we have that is not powered by electricity but by the use of kerosene as fuel. A wick or mantle as a light source, protected by a glass chimney or globe. We wish for the gleaming moon to be embellished with stars as fluctuating golden embroideries at the night sky. And when the celestial bodies hide, we wish to have that blasted lightning off the field.

Lucian opened his eyes. The white wisps of smoke escaped from between his lips. None of the lights in the living room were on. The only source of light that illuminated the room was from the street lamps outside the massive windows. The already dim glow was further obscured by the smoke that lingered in the air, casting a hazy veil over his vision. He cleared his throat and hummed in response. David quickly sent him the manuscript after hanging up. The brightness of his phone was rather harsh under the dim lighting. But, Lucian wasn't in the mood to switch the lights on.

Cale pressed the button. Click. Above them, in the glass lantern room, a light flared. It started dim, a warm yellow glow. Then it brightened. It turned white. Brilliant. Blinding. The motor whirred. The lens began to rotate. A beam of light cut through the twilight. It swept out over the ocean, hitting the waves, illuminating the whitecaps.

My eyes widened when I saw a knife behind on him. “Wait, is that a sword? A real sword? Wow, I just saw something like that,” I said and tried to touch it, but Grant quickly tapped my hand, but there was still a small wound. Is that sword so sharp? “Look at what you did. You are, give your hand to me,” he took my hand and covered his hand. I was closed by a little light that came out of it, after that— it’s disappeared; therefore, I immediately looked at Grant and my writing.

It was different from Amy’s room where the sunlight could easily and freely go through. After turning my room into utter darkness, I examined the stuffed toy’s eyes much closer. I could see some kind of red light stuck very deeply inside of the plastic beady eyes. It came off to me as very, very shocking. The light looked like those which normally came out of a recorder camera, or those newly designed modern security cameras. It literally looked like that. The light was creepily similar to those lights that were built in with cameras. Wait, what do they call it again? Infrared cameras? I think that was it. I kind of forgot the name. .

They’ve reached the ninth floor already. They find themselves in a warm-impressed room. A light yellow wall, colorful piled floor, and big windows gone through by that blue Lune illumination, yet the room isn’t illuminated by that blue illumination. The room is like illuminated by LED ones like in a department store. The windows might have been enchanted that any light that goes through it will be converted into a white one that they illuminate the room with white light.

Only light. Only waiting.
