Jumbo fixed his eyes on Levi who was still examining the chain with furrowed brow. "Thanks jumbo,"Levi said before moving towards where Xena was. He noticed Xena was frowning as she flipped through pages. She was very concentrated but it was like she wasn't understanding something. "Need some help?" Levi asked, causing her to quickly turn her gaze to him. Her eyes were already tired and she wore a gloomy face. "Yes please. This book is so large and my fingers are tired." She confessed tiredly. "It's fine Xena today has been a tiring day." Levi comforted her as he took a seat beside her.

“Did you call him? Invite him here? Tell him I’m being cold and you needed backup?” “No,” I said immediately. “Of course not. Levi, I didn’t even know he was coming. I was just as surprised as you were.” He laughed—one of those bitter, broken laughs that don’t reach the eyes. “Right. Because Ronald Adam just shows up randomly with the perfect speech locked and loaded about heirs and legacy.” My stomach turned. “You heard him. He was upset with both of us—” “He’s not upset with you.” Levi slammed his hand against the wall. “He’s never upset with you. You can do no wrong in his eyes. Even when you lie. Even when you betray.”

So the Gamma knew what it meant? “What’s your name?” Levi asked. “Lexi.” “Lexi,” he stared at her adoringly. “What a beautiful name.” Lexi smiled. It was the first genuine compliment that she heard. Her heart began beating faster as they stared at each other’s eyes. Brody can compliment her body all day, but the Gamma can do it differently. It feels warm. “Thanks. And you are?” “Levi!” he instantly handed his hand for a handshake. “Levi,” she nodded. “Cool name for a cool guy,” she complimented back.

Levi scoffed and said, “Lex, is this reverse psychology? Are you really that eager to see me and Philip fight so that you can reap the benefits?” After saying this, Levi threw the teapot in his hand to the ground, got up, and pointed at Lex. He said angrily, “Good for you, Lex Clarke! I’ve never seen you this way before. You’ve always kept a low profile in the branch family. I didn’t expect you to have such lofty ambitions too!”

“But it’s hard to pay attention sitting in some guy’s nasty cologne.” Levi rubs both eyes with the heel of his palms, exhaling hard. “If I knew you’d be this much of a pain I would’ve canceled.” “I can still leave if you want me to.” “Don’t run away from shit you started.” He snaps “Isn’t that what you clearly want?” I snap back. “God, you’re exhausting.” He grabs the textbook and opens it. “Let’s just get back to this.” *•*•*•*•*•*•*•*•*•

LEVI Levi slammed the door to his room in anger as he made his way over to the mini-bar. He needed something to drink to calm his nerves after what had just happened. He couldn't actually believe that Alexa had spoken to him rudely and to make matters worse, she acted as if what she did was okay and she totally didn't care if he was the alpha of the pack or not. He picked a bottle of alcohol from the rack and poured himself a half filled glass before he took a long sip, feeling the liquid burn down his throat.

Since the ride will take almost twenty minutes to the university, I decided to grab the book I took earlier to ease my boredom since Levi doesn’t want to talk anymore. That guy is frustrated and he doesn’t want someone to be nosy around him whenever he is not in the mood. So to charge up my curiosity, I flip the pages once again and started reading the next pages of the book. ** I felt that the car started to slow down already and notice that Levi parked his car on his usual spot while I am busy looking around, scanning if Rael is has arrived already. I unfasten my seatbelt to still check a big bike and saw the familiar one on the ride side before I unlock the door immediately.

There's something I have to confirm, something I’ve always suspected that I have to confirm. I go to the reading arena, where she always sits, watching her as she muffles her laughter, joking with Roxie. I badly want to hear the joke. Knowing the both of them, they're probably laughing about what Roxie heard or something they both saw. I've been in their circle well enough to know that's how it usually goes.
