Another dragon lunges at my flank. I twist midair and rake my claws across his wing. He drops instantly. Around me Emberhold’s dragons crash into Malrec’s forces like a falling storm. The sky becomes a battlefield of wings, fire, and tearing steel. But I barely notice. Because Seraphina is still there.

No title on the spine. I pull it from the shelf. LPThe cover is blank. But when I open it, the pages are filled with handwriting. Small. Neat. Careful. I read the first page. “The blood of the Dragon God flows through hidden veins. Most mortals do not know they carry it. They do not know they are more than they seem.” My heart stops. I turn the page. The child of dragon and wolf shall unite the races or destroy them forever. The prophecy is old. Older than any kingdom. Older than any war.

New changes needed to be made and maybe this could one of them. Drake knew this new change, mixing the wolves and dragons, was dangerous. They both knew, but to live apart? It was too much. The new pack house would house both dragons and wolves with their bedroom on the upper floor. They would have to be careful of conflicts later on. Dragons and wolves had rival tempers.

Fluppy convulsed on the ground, writhing in pain due to the excessive inhalation of the intoxication scent around them. For the first time in her life inside the novel did she feel resentment towards the dragon. The dragon was supposed to be one of the most important beings inside here. They were an existence that stood above all other existence in this fictional novel.

I tell her. She looks at him, still clinging to me. “You were there? In that awful place?” “I was, little fire dragon,” he says, carefully leaning his head toward her. She reaches forward and touches his snout. “Why do I feel drawn to you?” she asks, not realizing that she understands his dragon’s language. “He’s our Alpha,” Morgan says, walking up. “I’m Morgan. I’m a water dragon.” Nova looks at me, then at Ancalagon and Morgan. “Zephyr says I’m a fire dragon and elf, but I was always just a human.”

I opened it and noticed the printing was only on a few pages it was no longer blank like it was earlier, maybe magic decided I needed to read the red one first. I shrugged as I sat back down and read the four pages that were available. they all basically said that dragons can be born from humans but if they are from an egg that the mother decides when the egg hatches. If they want a dragonkin in the near future it can be done but if they want to wait? well it says mother can keep that egg safe without every worrying if it will spontaneously hatch. I did find a small paragraph on female dragons that said they are celestial beings and the male dragon only has to wish upon a star and his dragon
