Today was not any different, I was curled up on the couch, reading the same historical book I have been reading for the last few days. The book is quite interesting and helpful, shedding a bright light on the history of werewolves and their settlements in City San Zero hundreds of years ago. It encompasses the wars, the fallen Alphas and their deceased fated mates. The past Lunas. The list of conquered territories. “Omega, it’s time for your lunch,” Remi chirps happily as she easily settles on her knees, placing the tray of food on the centerpiece. I push myself up, dropping the book beside me.

I knew it had been years, but was I missing something here? “You go missing for three years and all of a sudden, I finally encounter you out of the blue, and the Rogues are calling you their Beta? Jennita tell me this is some kind of a hoke.” I scoffed, taking a drag at her body, noticing the firmness in her riding posture, like she was taking the stance of a warrior about to go into battle. “I’m sure you’ll be able to find your way to the Council meeting. That’s where you were headed right, Alpha Antonio?”

The last time I saw Owen, outside the police station, he gave me four words: "Take care of yourself." End of story. --- The car plunged into the tunnel. The world went dark except for that warm amber glow inside. Then—a blinding flash of white from my phone. Unknown number. "Hello?" It was Owen. "You left something here. Can we meet?"

The black smoke did not move like ordinary fire. It crept, flowing low along the contours of the ground, as if searching for the quietest path. Elara felt its pulse was different, without emotion, without personal purpose. Hungry, but not like a living creature. “Not a clan, it's... a remnant,” Alex muttered. “A remnant of what?” Amelia asked, her voice strained. “An old war,” Alex replied. “A failed ritual. A bond that was forcibly severed.”

Maybe Lloyd and Davina were right after all. I looked up. “Life happened to me. My mate is cheating on me with a younger girl. It’s frustrating. Maybe, if I join the circle, he’ll learn to respect me.” Mira considered me for a moment. “The Remnant can grant you respect and honor. But you’ll need to prove your royalty to him.” Another information. The Remnant. I’m guessing in this case that this has everything to do with whatever strengthens their powers. Mira snapped her fingers, and two lackeys emerged from the darkness, handing us a card.
