The Lost Pack
I watch until they vanish into the trees before I step back inside.
The house feels too quiet without them all here. I find Remy in the kitchen, leaning against the island with a can of Coke in one hand. The early evening sunlight through the window highlights his stubble, giving him a ruggedly handsome edge.
“Hey,” he says, offering me a small smile.
“Hey,” I smile back.
“Is it me, or has today been the longest day ever?” He sighs.
“Yep, and it’s still not over yet,” I grin sarcastically, “But we are all alive and healthy so we can’t complain.”
