Alpha's Regret After I Died
The magic was so formal, but no matter how hard I tried to work it out, the fogger my mind became.
I lifted my hand, drawing a small circle in the air, whispering the words that once bound and broke memories alike. The spell was old, meant to strip away illusions and force the truth to the surface. A reverse spell. The same one Angelica and I created when we were barely more than children.
The magic hit before I could brace for it.
A crack split through my mind, the air around me shattering like glass. I staggered back, clutching the table for balance as a rush of heat crawled up my spine. My breath hitched. My head felt like it was splitting in two.
