"Did they breach the perimeter?" "No, ma'am," Silas said. She hesitated, clutching her tablet against her chest. "It is a request for aid. From the Borderlands." I froze. The Borderlands. That was the polite political term for the cluster of weaker, primitive packs on the edge of our territory. They served as a buffer zone between civilization and the wild lands. They were the places time forgot. Silver Creek was in the Borderlands. A cold feeling settled in the pit of my stomach. It wasn't fear. It was something darker. Anticipation.

The sun was setting. "I’m going to the border," I said. "Are you coming?" "No, I can't. The rashes are showing now," she said, pulling up her sleeve to show me the red blotches. Her allergies. If I told her Dexter was waiting at the border, she’d come, rash or no rash. But I didn’t push it. I just said goodbye and left. My pack, Grimhowl, is one of four in Craig Woods. We occupy the southern territory. Our neighboring packs are Emberfang, Dreadmoon, and Valeblood. We share a border with Valeblood, a river dividing the two lands.

Distant hills framed the edge of the horizon, and just beyond them… a faint line of smoke. “Border’s close,” Rylan said. I could feel it now. A hum in the earth. A scent in the air. The pulse of a different territory. Ashmoon lands. We paused at the edge of a rocky ridge overlooking a narrow valley. The sky above was painted in dusk, purple and orange bleeding into the black of coming night.

My reflection showed a red mark on my neck, and around that mark were hickeys. I slept naked, so I also saw bruises all over my body, especially near my joints. Goddammit! Wait, if the bruises were real, did that mean what happened last night was real too? If that was the case, then my soul must've transmigrated into Nathaniel's doll and shared her senses. Which also meant Nathaniel did have a girl he loved but couldn't get, and he was also a beastfolk! Joy beyond any description filled my heart. I jumped up and down with joy, laughing loudly. Finally, I could blackmail him! I charged right into his company to verify my guess."

It was a mess of hundreds of dead bodies, most from the rogues but enough from our side that I was pissed. I could feel them and their auras leaving and each time I felt a tether break I went on a rampage. “Nora and Rick have crossed the border in the packlands” Jason’s mindlink hit me at the same time Raine’s did.

Chapter Seven: A BREACH IN SECURITY Rojean opened her eyes, her hands shielding them from the glare of the light from the window which curtains were opened. Her phone kept buzzing that caused her to wake up from her slumber. It didn’t bother her as she didn’t really have the time at the moment to go over any thought process but once she took a peek at her phone and Krister was constantly sending her messages, she sat up and breathed out. She realised that it was a quarter and a half past 7 and that it was too early to be dealing with Krister’s business but nevertheless she called him up to know what was going on.

Though Yseah had never set foot at those grounds but the it's infamous legends that buried at those lands were able to thrive at their peaceful pack. It was said that mystery dominated southwest borders between the two kingdoms. She then shifted her focus at the adherent before her.

A dark, dangerously confident smile touched Rhys’s lips. His divine gold Alpha light flickered gently in his irises—not in fury, but in complete, unyielding readiness. He reached up, his large, calloused hand gently cupping her jawline, his thumb brushing her lip before coming to rest on her cheek.
