Casey’s Regret
I answered seriously, “A few days ago, Luke and I went rock climbing. I slipped and cut myself on a stone ledge. The doctor suggested using a wheelchair to help my legs heal faster. It’s nothing serious.”
At my mention of Luke, Casey’s expression immediately darkened. He gave a cold snort. “Serves you right.”
During dinner, I used a spoon to sip my oatmeal slowly. Afraid of spilling, I leaned close to the bowl, sipping carefully.
Casey observed me a few times before asking, “Do you think that’s cute or something?”
He frowned, then added, “Your face is practically buried in the bowl. Are you a three-year-old?”
