The arena was packed full when Lillia arrived. It rose in layered stone tiers and was shaped like a mini Colosseum. Hung high above were coloured long banners carrying the Wolfsbane crest, all five in total. The colours of all the founding houses. Lillia thought as her gaze scanned the arena. Rows and rows of benches surrounded the arena, overlooking the battle beneath. Above the benches was a tent where the Elders and Ladies of the high court sat. And she stood at the entrance of this tent.

Servants rushed ahead; guards cleared paths. The grand spectacle shifted from ceremonial dais to something far more primal: Cody’s duel arena. I was escorted by two of Cody’s warriors toward a raised VIP box overlooking the training grounds. The arena was circular, stone‑lined, wide enough to accommodate full wolf forms. Torches burned along the perimeter walls, casting flickering light over the sand below. The guests filled the surrounding tiers like spectators in a coliseum. This was no longer a mating ceremony. It was blood sport.

Or maybe the last time I visited, I was wearing a mask, and my heart was distracted then, so I didn't realize the difference in the interior and vibe at the Arena. Inside, there was a nice restaurant and café. The floor of the Arena is mostly covered with marble ceramics, and the edges are covered with soft grass. Now, the arena is an oval field that is nearly 100 meters long and about 50 meters wide. At the bottom of the arena is an insanely large net that catches the players if ever they fall, sometimes because their airkicks messed up or they are accidentally knocked off by another player. The arena is surrounded by a thick bulletproof glass that acts as a barrier for both the players and the audience so nothing gets in nor out as the game plays on.

Looks like they weren’t exaggerating.” I turn back, and nod at the rim of the arena. “Four harpoon launchers.” “Actually, there are eight. I flew overhead for awhile taking it all in. I’m just here to get a better understanding of how they are running the place.” He turns and looks at me. “You and your pack should sit this one out.”

“I feel sick. I don't want to get up?” “Yes. Please move to the arena at this time.” The Coliaran walked away to the next unopened room. Sure enough, the other contestants were walking down the hall towards one of the larger arenas. Rainer released his stomach and joined the moving traffic next to a large rock-like and humanoid creature. It smelled like a dirty hamper but Rainer knew better than to say something. The arena was impressively large. A glass dome protected the audience, while sealing in the contestants. Dirt on the ground was rusted, and looked like it was made from crushed bits of metal.
