“But you can call me Earl Eridanus.” At this moment, a frightening whitish haze emerged out of the wall. It materialized right behind the garrison commander’s back. Its ragged clothes were wavering in the air, its bony hands sticking out of the broad sleeves. Cold spread around the room. Zomzom didn’t feel it but he noticed a thin wave of vapor coming out of Glein’s mouth as his eyes widened. The garrison commander slowly turned around and froze, getting paler with each moment. His face began to shimmer with blue, and Zomzom thought the commander’s heart was about to stop.

Gemma reached the main lighting system that Professor Digby set up to take stock of the antiques stored there in the attic. Powerful lighting came on one by one, and Gemma could hear the faint eerie screams of the Fear Mongers as they withdrew into the ever-shrinking shadows within the far corners of the attic. Larin and Hugo went in for the kill quickly. Their flashlights ate up what little shadows the Fear Mongers found. Their swords sliced through their odd skin and bodies. Transparent grey ooze dripped and puddled on the old floorboards. It felt like forever for Gemma. She turned away from the scene of alien gore and death.

The trees began to thin out as I caught sight of a very old looking house. I had expected some secret underground hideout or an old warehouse, not this. It was very large and made of lime washed bricks. The black roof almost blended in with the darkness around it. A thick black metal gate surrounded the cleared area of forest that it sat on. Spotlights had been installed around the area to create some sort of fake sunlight. The driver slowed the car down to a stop as we got to the entrance of the gate and I jumped seeing two vampires dressed in thick black cloaks appear in a flash.

On each of the three floors, sightless gargoyles peered out from the corners, and the apex of the gray slate roof caught wisps of clouds as they billowed and vanished. The large front porch was a vast expanse of shale built one step up from the soil, with rough granite columns supporting the Neanderthal brow of a roof. I convinced myself that the house will look better once the sun came out. The sun emerged. The house was in disarray. Golden rays from the west glinted on the windowpanes, transforming them from empty sockets to watchful eyes, and the shadows became more distinct. Coven House was dark and cold inside, with only red lights burning everywhere as if fires were lit in the middle of every room. The air was thick, hot, and stank of blood, clinging to everything like a mist. It wasn't something that could be wiped away by water – the scent remained even though someone bathed after. It was so strong one could almost taste it when they breathed. This coven was the stronghold of the Dark Shadow Coven, which, like the Gravefur Pack, was based on the East Coast.

Elysia, her eyes narrowing, noted, "And the creatures... they're not themselves anymore. It's as if the darkness has claimed them." Isolde, her hand instinctively on her sword, declared, "Whatever is causing this, we need to stop it before it spreads further." As they approached the Grove, shadows danced eerily between the twisted trees. The once-vibrant foliage now bore a sickly hue, and the air was heavy with an otherworldly presence.
