Mr Montford's face fell when he saw the disarray of his room. The storm that had shook the core of the building had detached the shelves from the walls, sending them and their contents crashing to the floor. Papers, or what was left of them, floated in pulped lumps on the surface of the bloody waters. His bookcase had fared no better and, while it remained intact, the various books and objects were past repair. "Years of work," he whispered as he slumped limply against the wall "lost and ruined."

Panic surged through me, my footsteps quickening as I stumbled into the disarray within. My home, my sanctuary, had been transformed into a nightmare. The living room was a sea of shattered glass, its shards glittering malevolently in the dim light. My favorite vintage records lay in ruins, their grooves now mangled. The scent of spilled wine and the acrid stench of broken memories lingered in the air. Tears welled up as I surveyed the wreckage. My cherished collection of books, collected over years of hunting through dusty old bookshops, was torn and strewn across the floor. The wooden shelves that had once held them proudly now sagged, defeated.

I didn't have time to process why she did that. The next second, an immensely heavy object slammed into my back with great force. My vision went black, and I was instantly crushed by the cupboard behind me. The cupboard was made of solid wood, and it weighed over 130 pounds. It was unbearably heavy. The only thing I saw was Flora's indifferent gaze. She watched my struggle with a detached look as if she were watching a play.

As they opened one of the boxes filled with books, a cloud of dust rose into the air, irritating their noses. The room suddenly echoed with the sounds of sneezes, causing a momentary pause in their progress. The copies of the books they were handling showed signs of age and wear. Some were tattered, with pages on the verge of separating from their bindings. Folded pages were scattered throughout, but Ruby had a fondness for such books, appreciating their character and history.
