No matter how scary it might be if you turn off the volume, you won’t even flinch. The game is all about the music. The backdrop music is what gives your brain warning signals of something dreadful or alarming about to happen. The best thing is you know something is coming yet you still flinch or scream when the time comes.

Watching a horror movie with Layla was an experience like no other. She would literally jump and yelp every time something scary happened. It was really nice to be hanging out with friends like this. We shouted anytime we got scared and twenty minutes into the movie,we had already screamed and jumped till all the popcorn left the bowl. We all moved close to each other and stayed like that in other to not be so scared. The blinds were closed and all the lights were turned off. We did it purposefully so that we could really feel terrified. Somehow watching horror movies with the lights on removes the scary effect.

This is exactly how horror movies start. I tried to calm myself down by petting my chest. I was alone in the kitchen. No one was here to save me. If someone barged in to kill me, I will be like a mouse trapped in a cage with a cat. The rapid footsteps get closer to the kitchen. The screams were getting louder. I quickly roamed my gaze around the table. Where the fuck are all the knives when you need them to kill somebody?! There was nothing deadly on the table except my horrified reflection. Maybe I can scare them all with my ghostly appearance.

What a dedication to work. Couldn’t be me. I adjusted the curtains to dim the room, curled up with a pillow, grabbed a handful of watermelon cubes and a pack of chips, and hit play. The film started with a funeral. Then a strange mirror. Then footsteps in an empty hallway. The kind of horror that crept up on you instead of jumping out with blood and guts, something tense as it builds up the tone.

Keira was clutching the throw pillow tightly as he pressed herself on Kiro's side, who sneakily slid in his arm on the backrest where Keira was sitting. I grinned as I removed my gaze from them. They're so cute! The movie starts smoothly. There's no jumpscare yet, nor any other scary scenes. Although it was spooky and nerve-wracking, it managed to give me goosebumps. I forgot how I also didn't like horror movies because I get scared easily at jumpscares and creepy background music.
