It was one of our best designs, and we could not wait to share it with her. The house was a large two-story home with a home office just on the off-chance that we needed it. Eight bedrooms since we already had three pups that would need their own rooms as they got older. There was no telling how many pups we would end up having, so the extra rooms would just be guest rooms or used for something else. There was a reinforced basement that was perfect for our very own magic room. The backyard was ideal for a little playground as our pups got older.

They’re in the living room.” We followed her inside, where the scent of freshly baked cookies filled the air. The living room was cozy, with a crackling fire in the hearth and a soft rug spread out in front of it. In the center of the rug was a makeshift pen, lined with blankets and filled with a wriggling mass of fluffy puppies. Scarlett gasped, dropping to her knees beside the pen. “They’re so cute!”

I whistled, patting my leg to get their attention. We stepped aside and let them enter the bedroom. It’s bigger than my old apartment, so that it will give them and their puppies plenty of room. They cautiously looked around and inspected the space. They quickly found the food and water bowls. I’m glad we filled them before we brought them over.

“That’s not so bad. At least it’s nothing serious.” The doctor smiled. “However, the poor young pup will be feeling quite rotten the next few days. She’ll need lots of tending too.” Lionel nodded. “I’ll take a few days off. Keep a close eye.” “That’s just as well. The pup told me she wanted her parents to look after her.
