That night, I returned to my room and once my brothers were asleep, I brought it out and scanned through the different pages of the book. The book was encircled around the story of a girl who got mated to four people. At first, it looked like her mere imagination until she because certain that she was indeed mated to four people. As I read further, I learnt that at the end of the day, a choice had to be made. That simply meant that she would pick one of us to would eventually mark her as his forever… That was the part that made my heart fly out of my chest. We were her mates, but not all of us would have her forever. She would have to make a choice. And so, who would she choose?

Wendy Another library. Another dead end. So far, anyway. "Nothing." I close the book louder than I mean to, and a woman at the next table over glares at me. I make an apologetic face and shrink into myself. "Same here." Alec pushes his book away. The local library on the third island isn't much bigger than a house, and the number of books on local lore amounts to what can hardly be called a stack. "Maybe this is pointless," I mumble. "Igor spent decades searching for the coin. What makes us think we can find it in a few days?"

After just a brief moment, both men yelled, “MATE!” I sit up into an upright position and look down at the book. The book’s title shimmers with metallic red and gold lettering. “Roses and Thorns” I whisper to myself. I refuse to look anywhere but the book that’s in my hands. I know if I look at Patrick, I’ll start crying again.

I truly believe that Naomi's journey needed this darkness for her to grow and fight for her own future. I am aware that there are still several unanswered questions at the end of this book, and it was always meant to be a shorter novel. However, it also serves as a set-up for the rest of the Mated Series books. If you continue reading, you will find answers to these questions. As it was the time of recess, the library was almost empty except for the receptionist. Greeting her with a smile, I made my way to my usual table and took the book out of my bag. The book that I had borrowed from the pack library. The title read 'Tales Of The Mates" and the the book itself contained the real stories of the fated as well as chosen mates of the past Alphas. I had already read more than half of the book and I must admit that it was getting on my nerves now. Out of all the entries I have read so far, most of the happy endings were of the fated mates.

I feigned annoyance. "Ok. Whenever I get to the part where the ML and the FL begin to have sex, I always imagine it was Eric and me and I'd get wet. It will make it a gateway to masturbating" she grinned proudly. "What are ML and FL?" I asked, looking past the stupid grin plastered on her face. She rolled her eyes and answered. "Male lead and female lead. Every book has that." "Oh!" I murmured, comprehending what she meant. “Raven, let’s talk. Then you may go home to your children.” The Moon goddess takes my hand and leads me to the large rock where we take a seat. She talks about the new system and asks for my input. Rafe, Finn, and Lucy stand beside us offering their opinions as the fate of witches and wolves is reshaped and hopefully, a new and beautiful relationship will grow out of this between the two races, now that mates will be made again between the two.

I smile Ryan just had a confused expression standing next to me our hands still interlocked, at least I'm not the only confused one right now. "We were just passing through and recognised you" the man smiles the women quickly speaks up from beside him. "Who's this?" The women asked straight after before I could even answer the man. "Oh, this is Ryan my...." I say but paused not knowing how to address him, my mate or my brother. "I'm Ryan, her mate," he says holding his other hand out to shake their hands. The women seemed to well up again like yesterday, it seems like she does that a lot, I can't say much it feels like all I've done these last few days is cry.
