I wait til I hear feel the cold air drifting into the kitchen and the soft sound of a door closing before glancing into the hallway again. Through the doors glass I could see Embers back to me. The left side of her body was eliminated white from the moon and her hair looked like silver threads as they hung down her back. Creeping towards the door she shifts and a second later a see a silvery gold wolf dashing across the snow, her body low as she ran.

“That means more than I thought it would.” He nodded and stood, brushing invisible dust from his pants. “So… should I expect you back at the training grounds?” I raised an eyebrow. “You’ll get your bruises tomorrow.” Ryan grinned. “That’s more like it. Just enjoy the view for now, moon goddess.” He gave a mock bow and walked off, his golden hair catching the moonlight like fire. I stayed there, watching the butterflies drift over the water, my staff resting against the bench beside me. Tomorrow, I would try again.

I look at what remains of the rogues and shudder, instinctively running my hand over Sarah’s arm and side to check for injuries. “We’re going to Moonrise, now,” Ryatt says, stomping toward us. Tenny rattled off with a huge amount of enthusiasm. “No, I’m not going,” Santiago was barely hearing Tenny’s voice as he strained to focus his ears on the words that the lush, pink lips were saying on the screen. “This club is kickin’. It is absolutely chock full of young, delicious co-eds and get this…they have to come wearing a bikini top or they can’t get in!” Tenny Rodriguez was a werewolf just like Santiago and they’d known each other their whole lives. Even though Tenny was from another pack, they'd always gotten along and his friend didn't hold it against him when he'd abandoned his ancient duty for a relatively human existence.

I finally asked, with my voice sounding like thunder. “Rory, we'll have to fight back. The Goddess moved swiftly, covering Raven’s body with her own, and just as Selene’s knife came down, it pierced through the Goddess’s back instead of Raven’s heart.
