Celeste’s POV Ryan showed up past midnight. I heard the knock before my phone buzzed with his name, already standing in the hallway, already bracing myself. Grace’s door was closed. Molly’s nightlight cast a soft crescent under her door. The apartment felt held together by quiet agreements, don’t wake the child, don’t crack what little calm we’d managed to stitch together. I opened the door and Ryan stepped in like he belonged there. Like he always did. Jacket still on. Jaw tight. Eyes too alert for the hour.

4:42 pm- City Hall- DA Personal Assistant 4:24 pm- Advocate Alliance- Executive Assistant 3:59 pm- Healing Touch Therapy- Front Desk Receptionist There are probably ten to fifteen of these job descriptions and locations in the security feed. All of them are clumped into a two-hour period of time from the end of the workday today. I hadn’t noticed anything strange about her today that’s been different from the last two weeks, but she did run out quickly today. Closing my eyes, I pinch the bridge of my nose as I realize exactly what Ryan is showing me. “She’s looking for another job,” I mutter, my chest tightening at the thought.

Rena opened the door for him with the grace of a widow and the warmth of a loaded pistol. “You’re taller than I expected,” she said, appraising him like meat. Ryan chuckled, oblivious. “Saxon always said I got the good genes.” She smiled. He didn’t notice that it didn’t reach her eyes. — 3:19 A.M. Cain’s Bunker — War Room “He’s already inside,” Cain said, voice hollow, fury caged just under the surface.

"As you can see. So you can tell Father I am fine and there is nothing to worry about." He started to close the door, but Ethan put his hand out to stop it. "Can I come in?" Ethan asked. "I drove all the way out here. The least you can do is offer me a drink." "Actually, I was just heading out," Ryan lied. "I have a meeting. With a client. About a project. So this is really not a good time." Ethan raised an eyebrow. "A meeting? At eight thirty at night?" "Tech industry keeps odd hours," Ryan said. "You know that. So if you do not mind, I really need to—"

Ryan started before Easton interrupted him, “7 am and 5 pm on weekdays.” I glanced at Easton and saw him quickly shoot Ryan a look. I’d find out what that was about later. We arrived back to the pack house and I went ahead without waiting. The mention of guards was still bothering me, but I couldn’t figure out why. ‘You’ve been controlled your entire life. This feels like the same thing to you, but it’s not.’ Kyra acknowledged in my mind. ‘Then what is it?’ ‘It’s just ensuring the Luna is protected.’ She stated.

Ryan felt bad to turn down her wish, but it was not possible at the moment. “Okay. So let’s just meet them on Sunday evening in the lounge… It’s also New Year’s Eve, so at least we could have some fun.” She said in a bit low tone but still excited at least she was now meeting Rachel. “Sure, my love. I’ll pass the message to the boys.” With that, Ryan disconnected the call after exchanging a few verbal kisses.

I lowered my gaze as I sliced the ham. "Okay." Ryan sounded like he was briefing an assistant. "From now on, I'll be at the office on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays. I'll be home the rest of the time. I don't want you coming to the office to find me." The system wailed in protest inside my head. "I don't want cheese! I want spaghetti!" I smiled faintly. "Okay." Ryan frowned as he watched me finish my milk, push back my chair, and stand.

But Ryan refused to accept that. And now, he needed to clear his head. There was only one place he wanted to be right now. With Serena. Before he could even process the thought fully, he had already made the turn, driving through the quiet streets until he arrived at her building. The lights in her apartment were still on, but he knew it was late. Amy was probably already asleep. Ryan stepped out of the car, barely taking a breath before making his way to her door. He knocked, not even sure what he was going to say when she opened it.

Ryan said ‘yes, yes… we are meeting in afternoon right…” I spoke “I am free now miss, so I thought of calling you and ask if we could meet now…” Ryan replied “Ryan, actually I thought we are meeting in afternoon so I visited mall…” I replied him honestly “Which mall?” Ryan questioned me “ Am in ‘Galaxy mall’ right now…” I answered “Okay, then I’ll meet you there…” He replied and we hung up after deciding to meet at fountain area. Ryan would take at least 15 more minutes to come hence in meantime I planned on continuing my shopping.

"Yeah, that's fine. See you guys soon!" Ryan replied cheerfully. He hung up his cell phone and looked at the time. It read 10:02. That gave him just about 2 hours to get some things done. He began to fix up his bed and he heard his mother coming up the stairs. He looked over to his door as she walked into his room. "Did you talk to Zac?" she asked him. "Yup. He said they will be over at around 12." Responded Zac as he continued going about his organization.
