After getting back home, Ayame takes a quick shower and goes upstairs and locks herself in. Her room was messy and nothing like before. Books and clothes were scattered around the room. We got inside and drove home, but this time, Douglas drove slowly like he was scared. “That was so close!” Douglas told me as we got into our compound. "Please follow me." She led them down the hall and opened a door. It was a small room, dimly lit and cold. In the middle of the room was a bed covered with a white sheet. Mom stopped at the doorway. Her eyes locked on the sheet. Her lips shook violently, but no sound came out. Dad walked forward. Each step looked like it cost him everything. He reached out. The moment his fingers touched the sheet, he drew back. Then he forced himself to reach again.

"Why? You already bought me all that stuff, so why won't you buy me the house?" She lunged forward and grabbed my arm. "Mom, please. Just buy it for me! "You were going to help me move into a better place after college anyway. This is only four years early." I looked at Chloe sobbing beside me like a child throwing a tantrum over candy. After a pause, I asked, "Chloe, first tell me why you want this house so badly." "If I tell you, will you buy it?" "No. Not now, and not later. I'm never buying you a house." I rejected her unreasonable demand without hesitation.
