We crested the final ridge, and there it was. The Beacon wasn't just a tower. It was a fortress built into the hollowed-out crater of an extinct volcano. In the center stood a spire of white durasteel that pierced the clouds, emitting the pulse that was healing the sky. Surrounding it was a city not a ruin like Vegas, but a sleek, operational base with hangars, hydroponic domes, and defensive turrets that tracked us with silent precision. "It’s the Sanctuary," I whispered. "The place the Ghost Wolf project was meant to defend."

Freya couldn’t sleep neither could I. “You still hear it?” I asked her. She nodded, wrapped in her cloak, eyes red-rimmed. “It doesn’t speak in words anymore. Just… reminders.” I swallowed. “Of what?” She glanced at me. “How it ends.” The third day, the sky changed. We topped the final ridge and there it was. The Sanctum. Carved into the spine of the world, half-buried in the mountainside. Its towers rose like black stone needles. Cold, untouched, unwelcoming.

Facing West as my coven chants, I say, “Amurru, great wind, which brings devastation to the plains, I summon thee! IM-MAR-TU!” Then I turn to the South, “Sutu! From the desolate lands gallop forth! In the darkness, I shall ride these winds, I summon thee! SU-TU!” Next, I face East, “Sadu, Mountain Wind of the blazing dawn! Send forth the storms of burning rain! I summon thee! IM-KUR-RA!” Finally, I turn to the North, “Istanu, storm winds which split open the land, I summon thee! IM -SI-SA!”

“How many more people are there?” I whined to Star, shaking the hand of what felt like my hundredth pack member as they told me their name (which I immediately forgot). Star snickered before reminding me that this was to be my future job, protecting them, training them, helping them, and nurturing them. Groaning as my patience was wearing thin and my reserves for speaking to people diminishing I decided to make a quick escape. I spied a small garden off the path where there was absolutely no one around. I quickly walked over to a bench in this beautiful secluded spot hoping to have just a moment of peace. Ignoring all my inner thoughts I went to the canteen but as my luck goes. I had to collide with non other than her.... oh and I forgot to tell you. Her name is Amara. such a beautiful name. Oh shit not again with the pervert mind. I scolded my inner demons.and you know what...she can really fight. I didn't knew a girl to be so fierce and that too...towards me. The cracks vanished, the moss returned, and a small, crystalline fountain of pure water erupted from the center. “This is no longer the Obsidian Pack,” I announced, my voice carrying to every corner of the mountain. “This is the Sanctum of the Sanguine Moon. Here, there is no hierarchy of strength. There is only the hierarchy of the heart. If you are unwanted, you are welcome. If you are broken, you are whole.”
