Chapter 2 ( Two Days later) " Oh... Yeah... Oh God..." Scarlett moaned as Gerald thrust in and out of her at an incredible pace. Her eyes clamped shut and sweat dripping from her forehead, it was obvious she was enjoying it. Way too much. " Oh God... I'm coming... I'm cumm..." she didn't get to finish her sentence as she groaned aloud, her body spasming, jerking uncontrollably. Gerald continued for a few more moments and pulled out just in time to have his release on the bed. Scarlett lay slumped on the bed, unduly satisfied. Staring at Gerald with lazy eyes, her face broke in to a grin.

As the guards retrieve the scanner, I roll my eyes at Orchid and we experience an almost psychic understanding of what comes next. We need to be ready to act at any moment if shit goes wrong. As one of the guards waits in the background, palm still resting on the butt of his gun and eyes still resting on Orchid's chest, the other steps forward with the scanner - a handheld device not much bigger than a telephone. He scans me first and then inspects the results. "Dog?" he murmurs. "Is that really your name?"

Felicity says as she enters doctor mode. “We are going to move the scanner down to you. This will come with some noise, don’t panic.” Doctor Wessex reassures me. I manage to lift my spare hand and put a thumbs up for them all to see. The groaning mechanical noise of the donut scanner moving to cover my head and face feels me with dread. My eyes remain open, just knowing as soon as I close them a flashback will appear. “You have to close your eyes Aida!” Felicity tuts through the speaker. There must be a camera in here, so I sneer hoping she would have seen it on the screen.

Michael muttered, his jaw clenching until the sharp white line along his stubble looked ready to split. Ava hit the mechanical start button on the scanner’s chassis. The machine responded with a low, heavy mechanical hum, a bright white bar of halogen light crawling slowly beneath the glass tracking frame, slicing through the darkness of the enclosure and converting her handwritten metrics into a series of uncompressed, unalterable image files. It wasn't code. It wasn't a template that a machine-learning script could rewrite or inject with false metadata. It was the raw, unedited architecture of the truth. A mechanical cylinder, almost the size of a surgical tray and glowing with a faint, eerie blue ultraviolet light, dropped through a rusted iron street grate above. It suspended itself in mid-air and began to rotate slowly. A scanning beam of blue light swept across the concrete walls of the tunnel, searching for the infrared signature of living flesh. Kael pulled me hard against his chest, wrapping his frame around mine to shield me from the line of sight. I pressed my face into the rough leather of his jacket, shutting my eyes tightly and holding what little breath I had left in my lungs. The scanner hummed, electronic whine that seemed to vibrate directly inside my teeth as the blue light

It smells like sterilization… and beginnings. “Lie back,” she says kindly. “We’ll do an internal scan to see if the cyst changed.” I nod, climbing onto the chair. The sanitary paper crinkles beneath me. My pulse accelerates. Cold gel pools onto my lower abdomen. The transducer glides slowly, pressure pushing deep. The monitor lights up with static blobs and shadows that only a trained eye can decipher. Dr. Katherine squints slightly, adjusting angle, pressing gently. Silence. Machines hum.

Claire smiled as she pressed the game's power button. The round scanner with the camera lens in the centre begins to move upright. Stand and face the camera. Claire followed what the scanner's said. The girl was standing facing the camera. Instantly the scanner emitted a kind of green light that moved from the tip of Claire's head to the tips of her feet. Scan completed.

He hummed, like he expected that answer. There was a knock at the door before it opened, and two men stepped in, wheeling in a machine I didn’t recognize. It looked high tech with too many wires and too many screens, my stomach twisted at the sight of it. “What is that?” I asked, my voice sharper than I intended. “Just a scanner,” the doctor replied without looking up. “To further examine your inside.” I looked at Miriam and she gave me a small nod, gesturing to my stomach.

" It can look for bugs, hidden signals, and other things that might be sending our location. This will reveal anyone who might be a traitor. Xander's gaze expanded. "You've had that for how long?" Brad coldly answered, "I've been saving it for a moment like this." "Everyone, put your electronics down. Everything will be scanned. They all reluctantly obeyed. There was a soft beep as Brad turned on the scanner. The gadget whirred to life, displaying lines of code on its display screen. It looked around for a few anxious minutes, looking for any irregularities. Then it came to an end. There was a signal when the screen flashed red.

“Let’s pretend.” She gestures to the chair across from her. I sit. The table between us becomes an island of light in a room full of shadow. The sound of the old clock near the door is louder at night, each tick slicing time into neat pieces as if time can be managed if you quantify it. Livia slides one of the scan printouts toward me. It’s an infrared structural scan, the kind that reveals density changes and internal fractures. The bridge looks like a ghost in grayscale—dark and pale bands showing stress points like bruises beneath skin.
