The sickening smell of burning meat filled the air and the thing rolled and kicked and scrambled its way off the tailgate. Jarred lay there, frozen. He wanted to cower and hide, but a trembling kind of courage drove him forward, out of the truck’s bed, baseball bat held before him. As he shakily stepped down onto pavement, the thing stopped flailing and crouched on all fours, glaring at him, growling. The bat had dug a wet, seeping trench in the thing’s right temple, above the eye, exposing rotten, blackened viscera and a strip of gleaming white skull.

"Wait, where are JumpStart's stun batons?" Looking around, scanning the surrounding area, I see JumpStart's stun batons on the ground, far from where JumpStart is. "JumpStart must have dropped his batons," I say, turning back to see Metal-Man walking with JumpStart in his hand. "Hold on!" I run and pick up the stun batons before running to where JumpStart is. It's too late though. While I was running to get the stun batons, Metal-Man made his way to some wooden supports. He pulls back his hand and punches JumpStart right through the wooden supports. As JumpStart flies through and breaks the wooden supports, the roof they're holding collapses and falls right into JumpStart.

Because falling from this height would still kill me in the stupidest way possible. Is this really the end? Before I even understand my own power, I’m about to become food for prehistoric monsters? A different screech suddenly echoes among the prehistoric birds. I turn and see Damian in his bird form chasing after me at full speed. Several prehistoric birds chase him, too. But the warning cry Damian lets out sounds almost like he’s trying to give me a clue. My eyes fall on the baton still glowing in my hand. Blue electricity pulses across its surface.

"Alright!" Scorpion nodded, but just as he raised his metal bat, the two security guards from earlier rushed up to them.

When she opened them, they were cold enough to bruise a soul. “Director,” she said softly, “have you no fucking shame?” His mouth opened...some pathetic excuse probably forming...but he didn’t get to speak. Something shifted behind him. Scarlet’s senses sharpened instantly, and she saw them: men stepping out of their hiding spots, bulky, strong, masked, armed with bats, metal rods, knives...every one of them with the same hungry, mercenary look.
