Scarlett (Second Edition)
Scarlett’s POV
The attackers brought an old, battered lorry rumbling up the road, and one by one, they ordered us to climb into the back. The sight of it sent a fresh wave of terror through me. I couldn’t bear the thought of being taken away, disappearing into some dark fate with these cruel men. My hands shook, and silent tears streamed down my face as I clung to a desperate hope—my mates would come. They had to come.
When it was finally my turn, I tried to resist, hoping to buy a few more precious moments. I began to cry and pleaded, but Marvin’s patience was short. With a flash of anger, he lashed my back with his belt, and pain exploded through me.
