Maybe he just needed a little knock in the head afterall. “Gray, it hurts so much. I think I’m starting to feel dizzy. The blood. It’s too much.” Scarlett cried, grabbing Grayson’s arm so tight like a toddler would their favourite parent. Her voice was soft and quiet, I almost believed she wasn’t the demon possessed woman trying to kill me with anything in her path just minutes ago. “I’m so sorry. Just stay with me. We would get you to the hospital real quick, okay?” Grayson bundled her in his arms, cradling her against his torso like you would a new born baby, like she was so fragile and weak she couldn’t walk on her own.

His eyes fluttered, fighting to stay open. Through the fading darkness, he heard the woman pull out a phone. Her voice was low, calm, and slightly distorted, clearly trying to hide who she was. “It is done.” Then everything went black.

“Why do you look… proud?” I blinked, watching Scarlet fade into the crowd like a half-remembered dream. Pride? That wasn’t the word. Or maybe it was. “She just… she was brave,” I said finally, the words catching on something in my throat. “Braver than anyone I have seen in a long time.” Anette nodded, brushing her damp hair back. “Yes. And a little crazy too.” I laughed softly because she wasn’t wrong. Scarlet Rosetti—no, Dr. Scarlet Blackthorn—was still just as wild, just as reckless, just as maddeningly impossible as she had ever been.

Who were they?” “Why don’t you come back later, once this has sunk in?” “I’m not playing. I need names.” “Okay... There’s Evelyn Blackwood, the architect of your nemesis.”

Laylin softly breathed out a sigh at his flaring temper. Scarlett muttered and turned around before lifting the sports bra that she was wearing before the food that he wanted. "You’re a witch." Theodore pointed out, but he dared not reach near her, respecting her privacy. Unlike werewolves, witches and vampires didn’t like nudity, so invading their privacy wasn’t a good idea.
