The whole place was lit and filled with music, laughter, rides and the smell of delicious fast food. "Oh yeah the carnival is here. Wanna go?" "Is that even a question?" I said laughing. Haydon bought us tickets and we were soon walking around hunting down the scariest rides. "You do know that I'm Haydon Veneziano and nothing scares me, right?" He said after about the fifth ride. He looked so bored while I was frantic with an adrenaline rush. I loved the carnival. "Oh my gosh Party Pooper. Let me have my fun, just watch me!" I said.

There are a bunch of stalls selling cakes, pies, and uniquely styled candies everywhere! Also, there are a ton of contraptions everywhere where humans would ride. Some of them looked fun, while the others are just plain suicidal because it seems like it is throwing them into a swirl in the air. Is that even safe? Are those torture devices? I try to make sense of what I am seeing. It seems like people line up to ride those torturous rides willingly, like they want to get pummeled to the ground and be spun in the air. Humans are weird. Is this what Holly means when she calls the carnival as a place for fun?

[Apple] On the surface, the "Cryptid Carnival" looked like any other carnival. There are fair rides, deep-fried snacks, side shows, and games. But once you look a bit more closely, you can see all the ways it isn't like a normal carnival at all. There is a touch of magic everywhere you look. I scanned the misty surroundings cautiously while all my bones ached from the fall and my heart thudded violently. Everything looked normal… sort of. The rides, games, and performers were there. Laughter echoed from afar, but beneath those laughs there was something off. An old, slanted sign above the large entrance read: Carnival of Souls. I stumbled up, limping on one leg. “Hey, do you want cotton candy?” a voice behind me asked nicely. When I turned around, I saw a clown that looked almost cute. He smiled at me, offering the candy.

And beneath those shimmering glows of strings of light and neon sign, the energy from them was electricifying and their spirits uncontained. Booths lined the midway, offering everything from sugary funnel cakes to rigged ring toss games. I watched some college students with their jackets clutched giant stuffed animals, and slushie cups, their jeans and sneakers dusting the grit of the fairground. Elijah and the rest of the boys split, drawn by games, flirtations, and dares, and Cameron, alongside Aimes, was trying to win a plush bear in the glittery boots.
