Burning It All Down
As Jimmy continued driving, I closed my eyes and ruminated over my plan that was to happen in four days.
Ten minutes into the drive, the road turned jarring, the constant bumps triggering a wave of nausea. Instinctively, I placed a protective hand over my stomach and asked, "Jimmy, could you please slow down?"
The respectful facade he'd maintained in Derek's presence vanished, replaced by a sneering contempt. "You bitch! Do you really think that you are Mrs. Church? How dare you order me around?"
My eyes snapped open, a jolt of terror. We weren't on the hospital route. Jimmy had steered us into a desolate alley.
