I didn’t say anything else; I just leaned my head against his shoulder, and together, we waited.
I kept my eyes shut tight.
Damien’s arms were still around me, holding me gently like I was something breakable. I could feel the way his chest moved up and down behind me. His breathing was calm, slow, and steady. And somehow… it made mine slow down too.
