Unicorns were often pictured as horned horses in the books he had read, and the myths and legends surrounding them could have never prepared him for what he saw now. The unicorn was smaller than any horse he had seen before and it had cloven hooves that resembled that of a deer. Its ears were small and pointed, and instead of a horses tail, there was a lionlike tail instead. The tip of the tail and its mane were both quite fluffy in appearance and shone like silver in the sun. The animal's horn was far longer than Fenryn thought it should be.

The hooves looked like red crystals with flames burning. The body was brownish red. The most unbelievable thing was in front of this beast Su Lan’s height only reached up to the top of the hoof.

The thought makes me sad. It saddens me to know that I will never be normal. That things like feeding on peopleand growing wings are now my new norm. But the scariest thing is how Sky is going to take this is he ever finds out. The thought that he might hate me or worse, be scared of me hurts me way more than I thought it would. I can already see it in my mind, me begging him to stay and him running away from the monster that is me. He will be repulsed by my wings and he might even resend the fact that I can read minds, his included.
