Jake stepped in, syringe ready—then the white wolf stood between him and the wreckage, grace and fury in the same breath.
They collided again—claws, teeth, light against ash. Jane’s fangs found Sara’s throat; the Queen screamed—those wounds didn’t heal. Jane pressed, but Sara hammered a hind leg, threw her off, and shifted further—skin peeling back to a hellhound, demonic and skeletal, ribs glowing like coals.
“Behold,” she said from a maw made of knives. “My true self.”
She hit Jane mid-leap. Steel shrieked. Jane flew through a cutlery shop window and disappeared in glass.
