He was working on sorting and taking inventory of baskets full of bandages, slings, and other such necessary things. He grunted and turned around when he heard us enter behind him. “Huh. It’s the quiet one,” Gregor noted. “You hurt?” I shook my head. “She wants to learn healing. She’s planning to join the scouts,” Naomi said. “She can speak for herself. Well, she can’t, but she can communicate,” Gregor said. “Well, girl. You want to learn from this old wolf?”

A seasoned scout standing to Jax's left slowly lowered his tactical rifle, his chest heaving as his hands physically shook against the metal stock. "But sir... “I know, right? It can be really hectic, especially special duty. I can relate.” Nova snapped his fingers and nudged my shoulder playfully. “You hear that, babe? At least Skye knows how hectic these special duties can be.” I rolled my eyes and chimed in, “It is like that with medical personnel too, you know. So do not make it sound like special duties are only for people in uniform.” Skye laughed. “Zara, please. Do not even compare. It is not the same.” Nova jumped in with a grin. “Obviously not the same. Hardly the same. Never the same.”

To hold back my emotions even when his words hurt. In reality, he wouldn’t make a good medic alpha at the university I went to. The rules there were clear.
