The rest of the messages seemed to be about menial stuff, and I exited out of it, scrolling through the rest of the messages and information. I'm finally able to read the notes that two of the employees that take part in the Testing in Main City, reading through the strange abbreviations and terms I don't understand. Through context, I'm able to see that it was in fact Celia that they're observing, subject #C555. She's going through all the tests with flying colors. I freeze as I read the next paragraph. "...subject #C555 has been tested to terminate rogue Senator Shayla Connors. Subject has passed and is confirmed for leveling up."

“Unless someone gave him access.” Lucas nodded. That was the problem. Someone had opened the door. Someone with authority. Xavier examined the scanner. “There is another access record.” Lucas approached. “Read it.” Xavier activated the display. A list appeared. CROWN-01 — RICHARD HARRISON CROWN-02 — VICTOR HALE CROWN-03 — DAVID MORGAN CROWN-04 — UNKNOWN Lucas stared. “Unknown?” Xavier scrolled further. The fourth record was encrypted.

Disappeared. The file was closed. But that voice Footsteps. Closer now. Not fast. Slow. Measured. Sera reached into her bag, fingers closing around the small stun baton she carried. She stepped backward barely breathing. The screen in front of her flickered again. A single frame lit up A still image. The boy from the video. Crying. Bruised. Label: D.W. SUBJECT 004. And next to it… Subject 005: A. Vaughn.

Liam ripped off the panel and rewired it manually, sparks flying. “You’ve done this before,” Elara said. “Too many times,” he muttered. “Victoria loved her puzzles. I learned to break them.” When the hatch hissed open, a gust of sterile, recycled air hit their faces. It smelled of metal, chemicals, and faint traces of blood. Liam descended first, the beam from his flashlight slicing through the darkness. The deeper they went, the more the walls changed from rough stone to polished steel. And then he saw it. Rows of glass chambers, glowing faint blue. Inside each one floated a small, motionless figure of children, suspended in liquid. Their faces were peaceful, too peaceful. Labels scrolled a

Dream Sovereign: Chronicles of the Blood Moon

His gaunt face framed by greasy hair, he methodically labeled psionic samples. Myros looked up. “Subject SM-1? I thought you’d be in the apex.” His voice was a rasp, each word laced with sadistic anticipation. “Come to witness science in action?” Vera stepped forward, every sense alert. “Your experiments… are cruelty masquerading as research.” Myros laughed, a brittle sound. “Science requires sacrifice. You should appreciate that.” He unhooked a vial labeled “Alpha#054” and held it up. “Witness how the dampener affects an unbound spirit.”

No orders — just motion. “Where did you find that tag?” Evelyn asked. Rhea sat beside her, the firelight flickering across her scarred cheek. “I didn’t,” she said. “You did. That’s why we came.” Evelyn frowned. “What are you talking about?” “You screamed. Three days ago, from somewhere near Hollowmere. Like your bones remembered something your mind doesn’t. That kind of scream carries.” She looked over at Evelyn, steady and unblinking. “We’ve been tracking the ones they called ‘control-class.’ You were E-113. S-019 was the one they couldn’t contain.”

Field Team 42: Paranormal Responders

The other was a tall man with the permanent scowl of someone who'd once been a bureaucrat and now had to carry a gun. The woman introduced herself as Marta Sánchez, formerly Control Acquisition Division. The man, DeWitt, didn’t give a first name. Marta pulled a tarp off a metal cart. What lay beneath looked like a human brain, roughly basketball-sized, mounted on a mess of tentacles and chitinous limbs. It had no eyes, but ridges across its central mass pulsed faintly, as if registering light. "Meet the enemy," Marta said. "This is a dead one. We think. Don’t poke it."

PRIMARY FUNCTION: REPLICATION DONOR Eric's jaw tightened. "They've already chosen him." The stranger nodded. "And if the replication experiment has started..." He looked at Lucas. "...then Subject Five may already be inside the facility." Lucas stared at the photograph. For some reason, the face continued to bother him. Something deep inside his memory seemed to recognize it. Then Hayes suddenly noticed another detail. "There's a personal identification field." He opened it. The screen displayed: NAME: UNKNOWN AGE: 19 STATUS: ALIVE

The Rise Of The Last White Wolf

The Rise Of The Last White Wolf

I stood near the foot of the bed with Zayden beside me while Corbin, Roman, Ronan, and the others remained scattered around the room. The door opened. A man stepped inside carrying a thick folder. I recognized him from the lab, though I couldn’t remember his name. He walked straight toward us, his expression as serious as if he were delivering news of a war. He stopped in front of me. “I have the results.” I nodded my head. “Go ahead.” He opened the folder and looked down at the papers. Then he looked at me. “Yes. That was a spider.” Kael slowly turned his head toward the man. “You’re fucking kidding me, right?”
