Kazimir roared, his Leadership-Steel cutting through the panic of the alien survivors. "Aim for their Logic-Centers! Use the glitches! If the world is breaking, use the shards!"

I bristle and Blade responded with a chuckle. "No need to worry sweetling, I only saw these two but now I'm itching to know what else you've been hiding," he adds mischievously. Blade smirked and replied off the top of his head, "number one, if you do you may never find your cellphone and number two," he pauses staring at me. "What's number two!" I hiss. "If you kill me, it'd be a total waste."

“He’s taunting us.” “Why?” I whispered. Blade’s voice was hard, steady. “Because he wants us rattled. Wants us scared before he makes his move.” “Well, it’s working,” I snapped, my nerves fraying. Cruz squeezed my hand weakly. “Fear means you care who you lose. Don’t let him use that against you.” “Easy for you to say when you’re bleeding out,” I muttered, my throat tight. Blade suddenly lunged forward, stabbing the knife into the darkness. The clang of metal hitting concrete rang out, but no scream followed. He pulled back, chest heaving.

They hesitated, staring at the small pile of cash. Finally, Little Blade spat on the floor. “Stop the posturing, you little witch! Get out of the way!” He lunged forward, his hand shooting out to grab the money. But his hand was caught mid-air, clamped in a grip that felt like frozen steel. The icy touch sent a shockwave of nausea through his body. Before he could react, Skylar’s small hand rotated violently, and a series of wet, sickening CRACK sounds echoed in the small room. Little Blade’s arm twisted instantly into a grotesque, impossible shape—like a broken toy.

The air was thick with the smell of soldering tin and burning plastic. "It's ugly," Kara muttered, not looking up as Ren and Leo burst in. "Don't tell me it's ugly. I know it's ugly." Ren dumped the server blade on the floor. "Will this help?" Kara looked at the ancient hardware. Her eyes lit up. "A Gen-2 Server Blade? Where did you find this? This has a dedicated cooling unit. I can overclock this to handle the neural load." "Can you build the interface?" Ren asked, stripping off his wet coat.
