I always think ahead, that's why I've spent all this time making sure that Ember falls for me, which she has. When I get home, I head straight for my father's library and start searching through the shelves for the book like a fucking mad man. Nothing, absolutely nothing. "Where the fuck is it!" I throw my fist in the wall, pain explodes in my hand as I breathe harshly. I need to find it, no matter what. I leave the library to treat my busted knuckles and make a mental note to search tomorrow when my father goes to work. * * * The next day after my father leaves for work, I go inside the library and resume my search. After an hour of nothing, I finally find the book.

Confusion etched across her features as she frantically searched the room, turning over cushions and peering under furniture. Standing on my tiptoes, I carefully pull the book off the shelf and slide down onto the chair.

Going through these books might prove to be annoying, but it is still much better than having to search through every book on the bookshelves. “Can we narrow down the books any further?” Kenji asks, tired eyes glancing over the books. “Is there anything else that we know about the book that we are searching for?” Levi picks up a book from the table and looks at it with disgust. “Well I doubt the book that we are searching for is Forbidden Magic of Ghosts.” He says, placing the book on an empty table. “Maybe we start with the most likely books it could be and work our way through.” I suggest, giving my shoulder a slight shrug.

I explain. "But they both white," he says with a whine. "I know, but when feeling little leave the cooking to mommy, okay?" I inform him, and he nods his head yes. There was a second of silence before I heard her shuffling and scuffling about. “Wait…now?” “Yes…now. What am I looking for?” I whispered, running my hands through the neatly arranged books. “Urm…urm…a purple-covered book, with a double-headed wolf symbol by its side,” she said hurriedly. I checked all the columns, but I found nothing. “There’s nothing here,” “Where, the shelf?” She asked, her breath now sounding ragged over the phone. “Yes, mum. The shelf. Where else do I check?”

I was almost done flipping through it, and yet it wasn't there. I was disappointed when I got to the last page and still couldn't find it. But I was sure Austin found it that day. And I saw it too. I searched for the picture of the mark on my phone and placed the phone next to the book and began the search over again. When I got to each page, I made sure to check it well with the picture on my phone. I got to the last page of the book, and it was still the same news. The drawing isn't there.

I had to find out more about the symbol and the message—it was the only lead I had. The bookstore was dark, but I knew where Isabella hid the spare key. I fumbled with the lock, finally managing to open the door. Inside, the familiar scent of old books and herbs enveloped me, calming my nerves slightly. I turned on a small lamp and began searching through the stacks of books on folklore and ancient symbols. Hours passed, and just as I was beginning to lose hope, I found it. A dusty, leather-bound book with the title *Secrets of the Ancients*. I flipped through the pages, my eyes scanning the intricate illustrations and descriptions until I found what I was looking for.
