Second Chance Mate

I was the second princess of the Phoenix Court. And I fell in love with a lowly black serpent. In my past life, just to be with him, I purposely picked that black serpent during the Sacred Bonding ceremony when we each chose our companion beasts. After that, we spent every night together. I didn't care what the whole clan thought. I was determined to marry him. But on our wedding day, that same serpent I'd given my heart to drove an arrow straight through me, killing me while I was three months pregnant. As I lay dying, I heard him hiss bitterly in my ear, "If it weren't for you, I'd have been with Seraphine by now. You should've died a long time ago." That's when I finally got it. All he cared about was power. And he'd been in love with my older sister all along—the sister who was next in line for the Phoenix throne. When I opened my eyes again, we were back at that same moment—the Sacred Bonding ceremony. Before everyone, he dropped to his knees and confessed he loved my sister. He begged not to be bound to me. She’s my sister—it’s my duty to protect her!” Sarah faced her own storm. Patrick practically scoffed at her grief. “Miscarriage? Do you expect me to believe that? The doctors said you only had a 30% chance of conceiving. I can’t stand women who create drama out of nothing.” Both calls ended abruptly, leaving us stunned as we stared at each other in the sterile light of the hospital room. In that shared silence, we made our decision—we would leave these men behind and start anew, launching a business together. But when the brothers received our divorce papers, they showed up at my door in the middle of a storm, kneeling in the pouring rain, crying through the night for a second chance.

"Am I Damon to you?" I whipped her again, with anger clearly evident on my face. "No." She said, shaking her head vehemently. Streak of tears streamed down her cheeks but I didn't care the least about it. Pushing the emotions that clouded my thoughts away, I yelled at her. "What am I to you?" "Master!" She screamed. Her lips shook in trepidation. I threw the whip aside on hearing her say the exact words I wanted to hear. Her white top was now soaked with a bit of blood as she curled herself up in a fetal position. "From now on, you will be confined to this building for the rest of your life. Don't even try to think about escaping," I informed her. ******** Evie's twisted life only became more overwhelming when she was mated to the ruthless Alpha of the Night Wolves pack, Damon.
