It’s rare, but it happens. Four healthy heartbeats.”

"But you need to tell me something, Aradaa." "What?" Kaelor looked at my stomach. "Why is there a second heartbeat inside you?"

She frowned slightly, her eyes fixed on the screen. Adrian felt the floor drop out from under him. "Find it," he commanded, his voice a low, vibrating growl. "Find the heartbeat."
