The banners, woven with protective sigils, hung limp, their magic faded.
A gathering of mages stood outside the gates, their robes disheveled, their faces lined with confusion and fear.
One of them, an elder mage with deep lines across his brow, looked up as Elior’s group approached.
“You’ve returned,” the mage said, his voice raw. His eyes darted from one face to another, lingering on Myrra and Velora. “Tell us. What have you done?”
