The sorceress rushed to a bookshelf, pulled out three books, opened them on another table, and began flipping through the pages with desperate speed. Bless stood beside her, reading over her shoulder. Nora, who had arrived shortly before with Aila under the twins’ protection, turned pale as she looked at the projection. Aila was weak, her silver hair falling across her face, her hands clasped with those of Isaiah and Isaac. The fairy girl, the Living Oracle, raised her head toward the door, and her eyes turned completely white.

One thought kept passing over her. "Who the hell are you Ren?" Bedalika questioned out loud. One of the others walked over with the books Ren told her to read from the Clan's archives. He just followed her but was hidden by a bookshelf next to the one she was checking out. She found the Native American history book and took it out of the shelf. She looked up at the other shelves if she could find some more interesting books when she found the book of “Zalmoxis.” She took it and she blinked when her heart started to pound so hard and so fast. She felt the book vibrated at her touch. She ran her tongue across her lips and looked for a table where she could sit down and scan it. She skimmed its pages while Kent followed her with a bouquet of flowers hidden behind his back. He smiled and stretched out his hand with the flowers near Elise’s face.

POV: Tom the Cracksman | Seelie Court, Arcadia The Seelie Court did not exist in a fixed location, which was its first and most important defense. It existed in the space between locations, accessible through doors that weren't doors in the material sense, through thresholds that read intention rather than physical presence. Tom had been navigating fae thresholds since he was twelve years old, when the touch had first shown in his hands and a Seelie scout had found him picking pockets in Petticoat Lane and brought him before a minor court functionary for assessment.
