Not just angry—furious. At Mother. At Serena. At Savannah. At myself. Mother might be cold. But she’s not a monster. She was there for Serena when we lost the baby. She stayed at the hospital longer than I did. She was kind. Gentle. She would never… never say the things Serena’s accusing her of. Would she? No. I know my mother better than I know anyone and she knows me. And yet Serena believes she did. That’s what gets me. She believes Mother could be that cruel. Oh, with words, yes. She can be cruel but that’s not physically threatening lives.

As Serena spoke, she seemed to remember something. Tears streamed down her face as she continued, "Sir, when Sana was alive, she considered me her best friend and promised to take care of us, mother and daughter." "For the sake of my relationship with Sana, please spare Maddie this time!" Sana was the name of Diana's deceased mother. Hearing Serena mention his late wife, James's eyes flickered with emotion. Indeed, Sana had always been kind to Serena when she was alive. James sighed lightly and then spoke, "John, let it go."

Patricia did not accept this and pushed Audrey back, she pulled Audrey's hand until the woman's body turned to face her again. "I'm not done yet, Audrey. You know very well that Kenzie is my son with Daniel. There is our blood flowing in his body. While you are just a place to ride Kenzie's birth. So, don't ever think that you are her mother. Kenzie's mother is me. The blood that flows in Kenzie's body is mine. You must remember that!" Patricia warned Audrey at length, but Audrey responded lazily, not caring what Patricia said. "You must remember Audrey that I am engaged to Daniel. So, stay away from our lives. Not only from Daniel but also from Kenzie. Don't see that child again."

Gunner cut in, “Yes, the Ethereal Plane. Turns out, I have been there hundreds of times. She has been watching over me all my life, taking care of me. She raised me Gunner. She took my memories so that I wouldn’t be hurt by not being with her, or something like that, but then she gave them back to me again” I spoke excitedly as I peered up at him. “You’ve lost me again” he mumbled and rubbed his eyes. “Selene, the Moon Goddess, she’s my mother. She has been with me all my life” I said slowly, watching his face twitch as my words seeped into his ears. He nodded his head slowly and I continued,

My brother landed right in front of her. Mrs. Harper wrapped the blanket more tightly around me, her eyes full of pity. “Serena is a good woman. She’s been a wonderful stepmother too. If this hadn’t happened today, she would never have treated Mia that way. “I still remember when she got together with Mia’s father. Everyone tried to talk her out of it. After all, Mia’s mother had only gone to prison, and Serena was basically choosing to become someone’s stepmother.” Mrs. Harper sat beside me and spoke to the two officers.

Serena spent the whole night before paving around her room after she had gotten the news… She didn’t know whether to be happy or terrified. To be honest, I felt the latter option was easier. She couldn’t be a mother right now…outside of these walls, if it felt like literally everyone else was after her… But there was one thought that made her a little bit happy. Damein. The father of the child. He could take the child whenever she couldn’t… Right now, she was burning up with excitement on telling him.

Serana is in the bath with her as she soothes her. “It’s ok baby, we are not going to leave you.” I say gently as she trembles in her mother’s embrace. I look at Serana, and she looks devastated. Devastated that we couldn’t get to her sooner, I feel her guilt through the bond. She is questioning if she is a good mother. “You are a great mother. You are so patient and loving with her, Serana. Don’t doubt that.” I tell her through our link when I see little green eyes looking at me and I smile softly at her.

"Her mother's sister. She is old now, very old. But she is alive. She lives in the outer territory. Her name is Sera." "Does Sera know about me?" Rebecca asked. "Not yet," Maren said. "I came to you first. I thought that was right." Rebecca nodded slowly and looked back down at the photographs laid out on the table in front of her. Her mother's face across four small squares of old paper, laughing in one, serious in another, young in all of them. She picked up the third photograph again. The one where Kalista was looking directly at the camera. Looking directly at her.

“It’s me.” Mama’s brow furrowed, her gaze flickering over Elena’s face. “Serena,” she repeated, her voice firmer now. “You came back.” Elena’s heart ached, a mixture of pity and frustration swirling inside her. She reached for Mama’s hand, her touch gentle but insistent. “No, Mama. It’s Jeremy’s wife. Remember?” Mama’s expression softened, her eyes filling with tears. “Serena,” she whispered, her voice breaking. “I’m sorry. I’m so sorry.”

Serana gasped and flung her backwards. "Mother, I am slim and beautiful;you don't expect to look like an overgrown elephant" Serena rolled her eyes. "The only shrimp in this table is sitting opposite me, a shrimp that needs to be cast away" Serena was indirectly referring to Eva. "Serena" Mother called her name in a warning tone. Eva stopped eating fast and slowed her pace. "She's only here to earn our pity and have us take her into our family and I can't believe that you all are falling for her stupid tricks!" Serena fired.
