The sound of the shower running infiltrated the washroom. The steam rising and dispersing throughout the space with the sound of music accompanying the pitter-patter of the water droplets. Serafina allowed the pressured water to wash over her, her tresses clinging to her as the glass of the shower cabin became even more opaque than it already was.

The kind that doesn’t need explanation. Outside, a camera flashes. Not subtle. Not distant. Close enough that the light bleeds through the glass in sharp, intermittent bursts. Aiden’s gaze flicks toward it, then back to her. “You brought them.” “Yes.” “Why?” Serena doesn’t answer immediately. Instead, she reaches for the glass of water already on the table—untouched, likely placed there minutes before she arrived. “Fuck I forgot water.” Serena knees down next to me, “Allow me.” She sings softly and a small rain cloud appears over the mound of soil, lightly watering it. “You are a legend Serena.” I gush at her. She throws her hair over her shoulder and winks, “Of course I know that. Now what?”

Just as she was about to trace her path back, a water body caught her attention. The image of the moon reflected on the surface, mesmerizing Serenity. There was a silhouette standing in front of the lake. The breeze blew the long, untied hair, and Serenity’s heart stopped for a second, recognising him. His side profile had her in a daze for a moment.

I embraced Serena and buried my face on the crook of her neck. As we both floated underwater, I reached out to her inner thoughts hoping that maybe she could hear me wherever she was.
