Eolan turned his gaze toward the horizon. The clouds still hung low, but somewhere beyond the ridge, a sliver of light pierced the gloom.
“We are the shield,” he said, voice steady. “The shadow that fights the darkness with darkness.”
As the sun dipped low, casting long fingers of light across the ravaged land, the group stood united, ready to face the gathering storm.
