Shadows In The Moonlight Novels & Stories

Shadow can never rule the moon. The blood used to write it has not yet dried.

As we step out into the library hallway, the moon slides out from behind a cloud, casting long shadows on the floor. And somewhere in the darkness, I swear I can hear a clock starting to tick. Midnight is coming.

Some of the fear in my stomach was quenched when my feet gently hit the ground. Everything was lit beautifully under the night sky. The moonlight bathed everything in shades of deep blue. Something stirred at the forest line. I tried to take a step back when the familiar icy cold front lapped at my skin. I couldn’t force my body to move, once again tethered in place. After seeing the moving shadows during the fight, it was easy to spot them now. It was as if once you noticed the shadows, you could never miss them again. The shadows gathered along the forest line, painting the leaves and bark in black.

I could feel the power of the Heart of the Moon pulsing in my chest, lending me strength I hadn't known I possessed. "I'm not afraid of you." "Then you're a fool." "Perhaps." I met his eyes. "But I'm a fool who will never give up." I swung my sword. The silver light blazed—brighter than the sun, brighter than the moon, brighter than anything I had ever seen. It cut through the darkness like a blade through silk, shattering the Shadow King's defenses. The shadows screamed as they dissolved, their crimson eyes fading into nothing. The darkness that had surrounded him shattered like glass, fragments of shadow scattering across the courtyard. The light pushed back the shadows, forcing the Shadow

But the more I pulled, the more complicated everything became. At midnight, my phone buzzed again. *“The mirror shows what’s hidden. Look closer.”* I glanced at my reflection in the windowpane. The woman staring back at me was pale and exhausted, but her eyes burned with a quiet determination. Slowly, I moved closer, finger trailing the cold glass. And then I saw it — a flicker, subtle but unmistakable. A shadow moving just behind my reflection, a shape that didn’t belong. My heart skipped. ---

Shadows stretched long and bending, yet at their edges, light threaded through, silvered and deliberate, marking paths, indicating warnings, illuminating choices. The Moon appeared then, larger than life, suspended in the night sky, its surface shifting like liquid silver, the craters and ridges deepening and brightening with its rhythm. Lyra felt its gaze upon her, not cold or distant, but intimately aware, as if the Moon could read every hesitation, every flicker of doubt, every tremor of fear and hope that threaded through her. “Lyra,” the Moon’s voice hummed, a vibration that ran through bone and blood, through muscle and nerve, not heard with ears but felt with every fiber of her being,

He is weakening, I need to get to him immediately. “We have been saying it for some time, and now, it is finally, absolutely true!” Yukon’s voice tears through the night and he raises his alcohol canteen up into the air, spilling a few drops onto his hair and body. “This is the age of the Shadow Prowlers!’ The rogues howl, lifting their heads in unison to the moon. Shit. My eyes slowly trail up to the space above me and I see the glowing orb reaches its highest peak. It is a full moon tonight.

Unexpectedly, she didn’t react that way, she only sighed and grabbed my hands. “Moonlight Shadows is very complicated and I’m afraid yours would be much more complicated” “What do you mean, Mother?” My brows scrunched up in confusion as I tried to comprehend what she said “What do you feel around Gabriel?” She asked and my eyes widened the size of saucers under her scrutinising gaze. What does she mean? Wouldn’t I be embarrassing myself by telling her these things? What would she think of me? “Do I really have to tell you that, Mother?” I asked, blush creeping onto my face as I felt slightly embarrassed.

Maddox grumbled. ““If they’re serious, they’ll be waiting.” Freya replied defiantly. The full moon was still high and active, illuminating the clearing Maddox had pulled us into. Skimming the borderline between White Forest and Shadowlands A pair of lamps appeared as the shadowy figures of two small people emerged from the cover of the trees. To my suprise the next feature visible in the dark were two pairs of yellow eyes. Like being stared at by a tiger, strangely hypnotic.
