So, he lifts his foot determinedly, walks right through the black wall and beyond. Mark finds himself standing on a hill. He looks up at the moon high in the sky, no stars to be seen. The hill he is standing upon is surrounded by lush green trees as if to hide it from prying eyes. The stillness of the night is unsettling. The forest is so quiet that it somewhat feels eerie. Even the wind is silent and motionless. Mark feels a chill crawling up his back as he looks around trying to understand why he is here when he hears…a blood curdling scream.

AUTHOR’S POV Odessa looked around for the fifth time and tip-toed a few distance ahead before pausing again to look around like a sneaky thief. She didn't know if she should curse or bless the moon goddess, as the full moon tonight was a bittersweet occurrence. The bright, luminous moonlight spilled into the castle through every crack and opening that it could pass through. Odessa had to rely on shadows to hide her appearance, but there was only so much one could do to hide in the shadows cast by the moonlight.

I looked up. Four shadows—tall, unnatural—emerged from the trees, blades gleaming like moonlight incarnate. They didn’t walk—they glided, silent and deadly. What the hell were they? Fear clawed through me again. I ran. “They don’t like moonlight,” I realized, watching them flinch from its touch. I veered toward open ground, anywhere the moonlight could protect me. But I was fading. My strength bled with every step. Then a voice whispered in my mind.

Layna shifted uncomfortably, her unease palpable, as The Shadows closed in, their icy, unforgiving energy enveloping us like a shroud. The Shadows' presence was a balm to my fractured soul, a beacon of hope in the darkness. I knew they possessed the power to revive Roxy, to defy even death itself. The only unknown was the terrible price they would exact in return. I held out my sliced palm, offering them the payment they demanded.

"Her," the shadow pointed at Minerva and got down down on his knee in front of her " She is our Queen. The Mistress to the Shadows."

He drawls out waving me off. I visibly flinch away from the nickname that the shifter boys so generously started calling me when I first started my little business. I realize my mistake when he steps towards me eyes flashing silver again. Shifters are predators. You act like prey they'll treat you like it. I tighten my lips in a flat line refusing to move until he takes a step away from me again. It's at this moment I am greatful for my best friend, Lacey chooses this exact moment to make an appearance. I visibly relax when Caleb's eyes move from me to her.

Derek asked from his spot on the wall. "Yes, but fighting off wolfsbane took a lot of energy. The full moon is tomorrow night, and I can feel the Darkness growing.
