Then, the harsh basement lights flickered to life. The sudden brightness stabbed into his one eye, as the other one had a rod drawn deep and the man on the floor squeezed in fear. His entire face twisted in pain, as if even the light itself was another form of torture. The footsteps stopped. The man forced his one eyelids apart, just a little A thin sliver of vision.
