Chapter 3 The projection of Cian’s bloodied face hung in the air like a curse. “Marina…” His voice cracked through the shadow magic, weak but unmistakably real. His eyes the same stormy gray as their mother’s ,searched the empty space as if he could feel her presence. Marina’s knees nearly buckled. The shadow magic inside her surged violently, threatening to spill out in a storm of darkness. She clenched her jaw until her teeth ached, forcing it back down. Showing weakness here would only make things worse.

I felt the vibration of the engine beneath me, a low hum that competed with the silent, tectonic roar still echoing in my chest. Beside me, Marie was a shadow wrapped in charcoal wool. She hadn't spoken since we cleared the Southern perimeter. She hadn't moved since Solara’s amber light had ushered us out of that den of vipers. Their money is gone. Alpha Harden is hosting a ball. He is inviting all the powerful leaders to beg for a loan. He sent this to you." I looked at the invitation. To the Shadow Queen. He didn't know it was me. He was begging for help from the woman he had thrown into the dirt.

"Is this officially the entire load for delivery?" Aling Maricar nodded quickly. I noticed her eyes resting on Dominic with a profound, quiet happiness. A soft smile graced her features, and it was in that very moment that I truly realized Aling Maricar had quite literally witnessed every single milestone of Dominic's growth. She was so visibly, genuinely proud of the young man he had become. She suddenly shifted her gaze toward me, offering a knowing little smile before turning back to address Dominic.
