I snap back, cutting the link before they can respond. I focus on the road ahead, the darkened path lit only by the headlights. My hands shake slightly, adrenaline pumping through my veins, but I push down the fear. I’m done being ignored. I’m done with their games. If they think they can just show up and start ordering me around, they’ve got another thing coming. But then a large shadow darts across the road, and I barely manage to swerve out of the way.
