Shattered Bonds: A Second Chance Mate Novels & Stories

Her brows lifted a few inches, then she smiled serenely. “I can’t say that I create or restore mate bonds yet. My tests are yet to show positive results.” “Even if it’s for a second, you can make two completely unrelated people mates, right?” I asked. “Yes.” “So, is there a way to break a mate bond without the knowledge of the mated parties involved?” “A third party breaking the mate bond between mates?” “Yes.” “I will answer you only if you tell me whose mate bond you wish to break,” she said calmly.

Shattered Bonds The woods were quiet, but inside Evandra, there was only screaming. Each step was agony, her lungs still raw from sobbing, her body trembling as though every bone in her had cracked and splintered. The mate bond’s severing left her hollow, yet heavy—an emptiness that pressed against her chest until she could hardly breathe. She stumbled over roots and branches, shredded pieces of fabric from her night gown torn and dull beneath the silver wash of moonlight. She pressed a hand to her chest as if she could hold the bond there, keep it from unraveling further, but it was gone. He had ripped it away.

I see Sev clutching Case’s thigh under the table, Case’s hand gripping him back. Rin grabs Chloe’s hand so that Chloe looks at her. “Chloe, this isn’t about you. You wouldn’t be pulling us apart. That’s my fault. I broke the bond and Selene did what she does. She took care of us. I have my own second chance mates that I’ll meet in a few days. If we end this, it isn’t because of you. We end this because we recognize that we’re no longer good for each other.” “Why do you need second chance mates though? I don’t get it. I mean, even though the bond was severed, you’re feeling things now, right?” Slade asks.

Forget the bond being broken, he looked broken. “No, not at all. There are two ways to fully activate your bond with your second chance mate. You can either find and reject your original mate or you can mark and mate your second chance mate.” She answered.

They seemed like a handful. My eyes were gradually returning to their usual gray. I extended my hand for a shake, regarding them with a tenderness I have never felt. "I am Alpha Trevor," I started to say, "I am your…," "Trevor!" Bella shouted, tossing me a warning gaze. I nodded. Bella had to understand I was never letting them go. I would be foolish to let my second chance mate disappear after searching desperately for months. I guided the twins to sit in a corner while I had a talk with their mother.

The moment the words left my mouth, I felt the exact second his heart completely shattered. The warmth in Jarrett's eyes died. A raw, devastating wave of pure, unadulterated agony exploded across our soul connection. His trust in me didn't just break; it was obliterated into ash. The mate bond connecting our spirits let out a silent, catastrophic scream, fraying violently before snapping completely in two.

She shrugs at me, “I get it. You just couldn’t ignore the mate bond before and now you don’t feel it so you don't have to worry about it. Cooper fixed the problem for you. You can just forget I ever existed.” I stare at her as another crack creeps into her soul. Her exterior may suggest that she’s fine but her soul was completely different and those cracks are forever getting closer and closer together. All it will take is for one or two to appear in the right spot and she will shatter. “You are right. I thought it was because of the mate bond, but for some reason, I couldn't get you out of my fucking head and that still hasn’t changed, that’s why I am here.”

Bass' voice boomed from outside the room, he was definitely standing on the other side of them mirror, and he was cut off by Hayes who did us a favour. "Shut up, Bass. We've known her for years. Girl practically lives here." Hayes scoffed while flipping Bass off through the glass. "Just... what do I even say to you out of all people... don't die." He smiled before we exchanged our last goodbyes and he strolled out of the room. Welp. There goes the only trusty male figure I have close to me. "Hi, sweetheart. You must be Valentina. I'm Sierra Charles! It's nice to meet yo-" the lady began with a bubbly grin while reaching out to shake my hand but she quickly took it back when she saw the cuffs

I think the command in my voice surprised her because she suddenly stared at me shocked, and for a moment I felt bad about snapping at her, especially after having talked to her the whole evening. But she was speaking in parables and it was driving me crazy and I didn't like the delay, I wanted to know if it was Fenris so we could get his head on a platter of gold but her suspense was driving me crazy, making me lose the last thread of sanity I was holding on to. But I was really worried now. “I felt the mate bond…” Okay… I thought trying to wrap my head around it all. “Not with Fenris”

I’d hoped for tenderness. I was too stunned to speak when he broke the kiss, or face mauling, whatever. I watched as his eyes fluctuated from soft to hard, and back and forth again. “I can’t believe I touched a rogue,” he muttered, shoving me away from him, like I’d burned him. And just like that the spell was broken. Finally regaining my senses, I bit my lip - hard. He stood in front of me, physically shaking his head as if struggling to clear himself from the pull of the mate bond.
