The white cloth wrapped around it still held stains of blood. “So that was never a dream…” “Apparently it’s not.” Shiera touched Sasha’s forehead, her hand warm and gentle. “Luckily, the female Shadow Rose Wolf managed to bring you here in time. She found you bloody on your bed in your apartment. She found this,” she jerked her chin to the table beside her, where the black shard of that vase had been broken into tiny more pieces. “I was dreaming,” Sasha swallowed, her voice rasped. “I think…I think I hurt my own self while I was dreaming.”

Every breath is too deep, like my lungs don’t remember how to work without resistance. The Child sits beside me on the broken sanctuary steps, their usual glow muted, flickering at the edges like a guttering candle. They’re staring at their hands, turning them over and over, as if checking for cracks. They don’t hum anymore. The Mirror shard is a dull, dead thing between us. "Hey," I whisper. My voice rasps, raw from screaming. Or maybe just from disuse. They don’t look up. "I dreamed of falling," they say. Not a dream. A memory. The void. The detachment. The cold.

There is a slight smile filled with confusion playing in his eyes, “Don’t tell me your dream fell through again.” I look on over to the truck, and the attendant follows my eyed, “My dream is in that truck.” I pause for a moment and turn to look at the clerk again, “His body is there, but his mind is gone.” “Well,” he starts, and there is genuine concern in his voice, “Whatever happened, I am sure time will heal his wounds.” I only but give him half a smile and turn to leave the store, “I really hope you are right.”

“Maybe it has something to do with our bond. Or the fact that we feel the same injury while we are touching. Only now we can have the same dream if we're touching.” I nodded and went back to writing the words down on paper. I tried to seem calm on the outside while I was freaking out on the inside. I felt Nathan watching me, but tried to focus on the lined paper in front of me, instead. The words and visions started to blur from my lack of concentration and I had to stop many times before I could successfully get the dream down on paper. In one, the world seemed to implode, taking both Candy and Mirele into a swirling vortex of hellish flames, desperately screaming my name as they fell.
