He spat. Bastard; Shawn internally groaned before keeping the plan book in his coat and stepping out. He followed the thug inside the warehouse which was fairly illuminated by a fluorescent bulb. He saw Xane. He saw Sunny. He saw some other of their god-forsaken men too but not Serenity. “Where is she?” He hissed out. Xane acted like his words were nonexistent. “My plan book?” “You mean MY plan book.” Shawn countered. Xane turned around, threw his hands at nothing, and then turned back to Shawn. “Seriously, Donnelly? You're so finished, but yet, your arrogance is not, is it?”

Shaun may have been a virgin, but after last night, he's the furthest thing from it. The sparks that ran through my body when we were having sex made each touch that much more intense. Just thinking about it makes me want to do it again. Instead, I think I'll surprise Shaun. He told me that I'll probably be sick and in pain later today while my body adjusts to his venom. I try again to mind link him with no answer. I hear footsteps down the hall coming towards my door. His expression remained carefully neutral, but I caught the brief flicker in his gaze. “More reading?” he asked, voice low and controlled as he stepped closer, stopping at his usual careful distance. I nodded, keeping my tone light. “She writes very well. I’ve become quite the fan lately.” Shawn’s eyes returned to the books for a moment. He tilted his head slightly, as if recalling something distant. “Carlisle Gallagher. Yes… she’s a beautiful author. Elegant prose. Sharp insight into power dynamics. I can see why her work appeals to you.”

“Sorry.” Shaun leaned forward and took my hand. “Don’t be. It is what it is. At least we can have moments like this, right?” With another smile, I laced my fingers with his. God, I couldn’t stop smiling around him. “Yeah, we do.” I wanted to change the subject, so I asked, “What else do you like to read? What’s your favorite book?” A wave of appreciation wafted off of him and he gave my hand a soft squeeze. “Anything really. I like thrillers, horror, fantasy… and my favorite book… well, that depends, I guess.”

The next day, at eight pm sharp, Shawn and Queen arrived at the Western Club, where arrangements had been made for her to meet with Suarez while disguising herself as a prostitute.

She briefly looked at Demian through the reflection of the mirror in front of her. "Vampires also read books? What are you reading?" Shada chirped, making Demian a bit annoyed. "You didn't answer my question. Where are you going? With who? Oh... with that guy?" probed Demian with a sneering face. "You read my mind, don't you?" Shada was annoyed. Why did Demian bother to ask when he could immediately know from the contents of Shada's head. Shada refocused on her light makeup. Sometimes she heard Demian hissing, grumbling and even opening each page of his book loudly.

I asked. "He was alone. Apparently, he has a message for you." The warrior said. And they handed me another photo. I looked at it, but this time it was a photo of Tessa taken sitting outside the packhouse reading a book with her hand on her stomach. She was alone outside the packhouse. "There's a note on the back." The other warrior says so I turn it over. Poor dumb werewolves. So predictable. You run to help others in need and you leave behind the ones that really need your help. You took the person I loved and now I took the person you love. So sorry.
