I asked Sheila, hoping to make her see things from a different perspective.
She nodded slowly, her eyes focused on me. "Yes, I was there."
I leaned forward, trying to convey the importance of what I was about to say. "Do you remember what Lydia did when she found her mate?"
Sheila's brow furrowed in concentration as she thought back to that day. "I remember her being protective of him," she said finally.
"That's right," I said, nodding. "She took care of the potential threat first, even before facing her mate. She warned the girl who was trying to flirt with her mate to stay away from him."
